Not bad

My only suggestion is to add a bit more variety in timbre. The same sound gets really old after awhile. Other than that, nice work. The semi-chaotic tempo/rhythms oddly work for this song. Sounds fun! :D

thank you I will. I have much more songs to bring

Nice job!

I'm not an expert in chiptunes, but this is great stuff. Relaxing! When you said it got a little more crazy at 1:40, I was expecting something extreme like death chip music or something, haha. But when I heard it, I was pleasantly surprised :)

Awesome job

HolyKonni responds:

:D thank you!

Wow!

Really! Very nice! I am stunned by the professional quality of this piece! You have done a great job mixing this! The effects are perfect as well! Everything is balance and in order.

Kudos to you!

Very good

The choir melody after the techno started was a bit obscure for this piece, in my own opinion. However, after it got going there were no other obscure melody moments, haha.

I am also a fan of the constructive chords your using. They give a very nice and "angelic" sound to this piece overall. Great transitions from the choral to techno and back again. I also liked the bass drum at the end, although after a few measures of it, I thought you could have brought in a harder attack like you have going on beats 2 and 4 after the techno fades out and the voices come back in (if you know what I am talking about).

Overall, great piece. I enjoyed listening to it. There IS something missing, but it does not diminish the piece at all. I liked it a lot. I hope your hiatus brings you much creativity, because I DEFINITELY want to hear more of your stuff!

Cheers!

Aeris responds:

This is a really good review ^^

I do admit, the techno/choir isn't really meshing too well but I think it's because my mind couldn't decide if it wanted to do either or, rather than what I wanted to do was mesh them seamlessly, but it has its moments i'll admit where it's smooth.

I'm glad you enjoyed the chords, they're one of the things I put the most intricacy in, or most attention to i should say. I understand what you mean by the bass drum and I think I have an idea that'll satisfy that.

Thanks for this amazing review :D btw, I always respond to reviews if you've sent any others around. ^^

Only cuz it's a demo

I only gave this a 3/5 and a 7/10 because of its length. I would definitely rate it higher if it were a longer song. Cheers!

Good, but could use minor improvements....

Minor improvements are all it needs. Overall it's a great song! I'd say start by adding some, VERY LITTLE, but noticeable differences between the opening guitar and when it repeats it the 2nd and 3rd time before the heavier stuff comes in. When I say small, I mean like 2-4 notes different. Not very much. Because I see that you've added on to it at 1:50. I'm not saying add on to the beginning, just switch up some note progressions here and there. Like, ok, maybe, in the first time through, subtract the chord at :11, or at the end of the first 4 measure bars (the natural "fill" section) and save it for the 2nd time. Just that alone would make an incredible difference. But whatever you do, keep it small.

After listening to it for a while, the EQ sounded good. iPod headphones might not be the best mixing devices. Although this did turn out pretty good for iPod headphones. If you are going to use headphones, make sure it's the high quality ones. If you can't get a hold of those, then don't use headphones. Were headphones your only choice? Or did you have an option of speakers? Speakers might have greatly differed the sound.

A little more volume on the drums during the heavy section would have made this just that much better (By the heavy section I mean where the metal electric guitar part comes in). Maybe, just maybe bring down that whistle that's holding the melody during that part. It sounds like a synth, but I'm not totally sure. Bringing that volume down a little bit, just a smidge for that section would have made it better as well.

I'm not sure. These are just my uneducated, but experienced opinions. Someone might have differing opinions, and that's okay. Maybe I'm horribly wrong, and that's okay too. I'm just throwing what I think out there, so you'll have stuff to compare.

Overall, excellent song. Very mellow, laid back, with a few emotional climaxes. I really enjoyed this song and expect a whole lot more from you in the future! I'll be listening!

Awesome

Great Song! The repetiveness doesn't really affect it. It's like it was meant to be!

Anyways, great music! And yes, it is FUN!!!!!!! A little bit of variation would be nice, but a piano version is always good. The tempo shift is amazing, it makes it that much better.

Dan Paladin would be proud :')

WritersBlock responds:

Yeah, I'm thinking I can vary the rhythms a bit, and maybe have a hyper fast section. I like the ending now, so I'll probably go med-slow-med (/w variation)-fast-slow.

This style is a breath of fresh air for me, thanks for the review and 10.

A little Tempo wavy

A beautiful piece. The tempo is a little off, and the dynamics aren't really apparent, but overall pretty good ^.^

Good!

It was definitely good. The only thing I didn't like about it was in the beginning the background loop wasn't precisely on pitch. I just cringed a little when I heard it. It's like a quarter0-tone.... Ooof. Either way, though, it was still good

^.^
